There are many ways in which you can make a difference in water conservation. Water is something we all use every day and often times something we take for granted. It is time we all step up and realize the amount we consume daily is getting out of hand. Here are four ways we can all make small changes in our lives, to make big changes in our lifetime.
· Be mindful about where your trash goes and littering. Plastic bags, plastic bottles, plastic straws, fishing nets and lines are a few items that are commonly mistaken for food by animals. These items, along with many others, then get ingested or worse, trap and suffocate animals.
· Buy reusable water bottles for you and your household. Having a water bottle that you can use daily rather than buying plastic ones that you throw away daily will make a difference in our environment.
· Set time limits on showers to save on water. In an average home, showers are typically the third largest water use after toilets and washers/dryers. The average shower uses 17.2 gallons of water and lasts for 8 minutes. This results in an average flow rate of 2.1 gallons per minute.
· Turn the water off while brushing your teeth. You are supposed to brush your teeth for roughly two minutes. If the water is running for two minutes straight, that will result in a lot of wasted water, which is not beneficial in any situation. Become more aware of how much water you are using.

If we all took time to think about these four tips every day, the amount of wasted water would go down tremendously. This would result in an overall healthier and more environmentally friendly world in which we live.
