Have you ever been in a drought and you instantly think to yourself…hmm… if we would just get a solid rain fall this problem would go away?
Unfortunately, droughts are not the cause of water shortages in your area. People are the reason for droughts, and we are the ones who can change this. If we could come together and govern ourselves to adequately use our resources without taking every last little bit, we can take in a given moment. If we don’t change our usages, we will face a big problem in the near future, and who knows what that will end up like.
Freshwater only makes up a very small fraction of about 2.5% of the nearly 70% water covered earth. Even less of that 2.5% is assessible to humans because the other portion is trapped within glaciers, snowfields and underground caves.

Things that you could do:
· Change your water use habits
· Upgrade to water saving fixtures and/or appliances
· Identify and fix leaks
· Reduce outdoor and lawn water use
A simple drought can cause extensive environmental impacts on the surrounding habitats. Plants, animals and humans all depend on water. So, we are not the only ones affected by droughts, however, we are capable of changing our unnecessary water usage habits and it could make a huge difference if you do your part too.
